Marathon offers a unique experience through leadership, apprenticeship and work environment.
Marathon Electrical Contractor Apprenticeship Program (MECAP) started in 2015. It is a certified National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) program and uses the NCCER curriculum to guide the program. Since the inception of the program, Marathon has expanded the program to include classes at all office locations as well as internationally. Graduates from the program have secured positions as project manager, foreman, superintendent , job manager, and instructors for the program. Our current apprentices come from numerous divisions within our company including estimating, service, low voltage, fire alarm, international, pre-fabrication, construction, project management, and other office personnel. MECAP is accredited by NCCER as an Accredited Training Sponsor and registered with the Department of Labor.
The Alabama State Electrical Board allows for individuals to attempt the Journeyman electrician test at 8000 on-the-job hours or 6000 on-the-job training hours with at least 2 years of credited schooling in the electrical field. The Marathon program consists of 4 levels over the course of 3-4 years depending on your location. While gaining the required on-the-job hours, apprentices attend classes with hands-on performance evaluations, prepare for the Journeyman examination, and gain the technical knowledge needed to excel in the field as well to earn their Journeyman’s certification. To be accepted into our apprenticeship program, one must have had at least 90 days with the company and have a willingness to learn more about the electrical trade.
